Here you find some videos that explain some of the features of Shopping List. You should watch them in the order they appear since some videos use informations contained in previous videos.

Note that this are only samples video. To learn about all the features please see the user's guide.

For clarity and simplicity these videos have been recorded using the iPhone Simulator. This is why you see a mouse pointer instead of a finger.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
This videos are about the most recent version of the app. Unfortunately, this may not be the version you can find in the app store since there is a delay between when the new version is released and when it appears in the App store. However, you can always download the latest version as a free upgrade as soon as it becomes available in the store.



ITEM GROUPS

This video shows how to create item groups. Item and products must be enclosed by a group. You can create a group as you want. It can represent a category or other information. You can also put all your items in only one group if you like it. To create a group touch the plus button. You can modify or remove a group touching the Edit button.
ITEMS

This video shows how to create items. Once you've selected an item group, touching the plus button will create a new item. You can make changes or remove an item using the Edit button. You can move an item to a different group choosing the new group in the item details view.
When editing the details, touching the back button the editing will cancel. To confirm your changes you have to touch the Done button.
PRODUCTS

Products are specialized items. In this video you'll see how to create products. Turn on the Manage products switch of an item and you can then touch the item name to enter its product list. Other actions are the same as for items.
Please note that the barcode is an optional information that will probably be used in a future version of the app recognize scanned product barcodes. Now you can use it as a reference information only.
SHOPS

Shops are used in the advanced features of Shopping List. Watch the video to see how to create shops.
You can also create (or modify) a shop associating it with a contact in your address book.
Update location (either automatically or manually) if you later want to be able to use location aware features.
Use the Edit button to modify or delete a shop.
LIST ADDING

In this video you'll see how to add items to your list.
You can touch the three plus button to add more than one item in a single action. Just check the item you want to add and touch Done.
The video shows you how you can personalize this view using preferences. You can choose to use a plain list, a list grouped by name and a list grouped by group.

You can add a NEW item using the plus button. The app will check if a similar item already exists and if it finds some you can choose to add one of them.
If you add a non-existing item you must choose its group also. The item will be added to the list AND to the item archive.
Not shown in the video : The old (version 1.0) method of adding items is accessible from the More button. You can switch the action of the plus button in the preferences.
LIST CHECKING AND SORTING

This video shows how to check off an item, remove a check and some of the configurable items sorting method.

In the preferences you can also turn on a sound that's played when you check an item.
LIST VIEW PERSONALIZATION

Watch this video to see how you can personalize the list view.
You can change how you're list is displayed in the settings.
ITEMS-SHOPS ASSOCIATION

In this video you'll see how you can associate items to shops.
You can also change the order and have this info used to sort the shopping list.

Please note that using shopping session items are associated to shops automatically so you can choose to use either the manual way or the automatic way (see below).
SHOPPING SESSION

You use shopping sessions to store the total amount spent and later produce reports.
You should also use shopping session to automatically assign items to shops.

SHOPPING ASSISTANT

Whether you have associated items to shops manually or automatically you can then use the shopping assistant.
This video shows how it works.

The shopping assistant will help you decide where to go shopping. It shows you where you'll find the items you've in list. Items you can find only in a single shop are shown in red. You can choose the maximum distance you may want to cover to go shopping.
